The Chester County Women's Slowpitch Softball League was started in 2008 with the aim of providing local women with a chance to play competitive slowpitch softball in Chester County. Prior to 2008, there were no women's slowpitch softball leagues in Chester County. The league began its inaugural season with four teams (Ryan's Pub, Doc Magrogan's, Miss Fits & Applebees) primarily built on free agents and players from the Chester County Coed League.
The league expanded to five teams in 2009 with Jimmy's BBQ joining the mix. In 2009, eventual league champion Blue Diamonds (formerly Ryan's Pub) entered the Pennsylvania Class D Women's State Tournament at Penn State and finished 3rd. The league's first all-star game was played in August of 2009, showcasing the league's growing talent.
In 2010, the league expanded to seven teams with over 100 women participating.
The Chester County Women's Softball League currently plays games at the West Chester Area Sports Association Complex fields on Sunday morning and afternoon during the Summer. The season begins in June, the week after Memorial Day, allowing women coming home from college the opportunity to play. The season typically ends in August, a couple weeks before Labor Day.
Tracy Gordon has served as President of the league since its inception. For more information on the league, Tracy can be reached at email@example.com or website our website at www.chescowomens.com.
